UMSHoF member Coach Jim Morris' Hurricanes matched a College World Series record with the largest margin of victory in a championship game, by pounding the Stanford Cardinal to claim a 12-1 victory and Miami's 4th National Championship in history and the 2nd title in 3 years !
Charlton Jimerson claimed the College World Series Most Valuable Player award by knocking 6 hits, including 2 home runs, stealing 7 bases, and making several outstanding plays in centerfield.
Kevin Brown added 7 hits, 3 home runs with 10 RBIs, including 5 in the title game. Danny Matienzo added 9 RBIs with 10 hits, 3 home runs, and tallied 6 RBIs in the opening round 21-13 victory over Tennessee. Kevin Howard also had 8 RBIs in the series. Pitcher Tom Farmer recorded 2 victories, including the win in the opening and championship games.
The Canes scored 49 runs in the 4 CWS games and ended the season with 17 consecutive victories !
