In a ceremony on the field of Mark Light Cathedral, The Miami Maniac was wed to Mrs. Maniac in an event billed as "a Hysterical, Historical Event" ...a national television audience on ESPN, and a near sellout crowd on a Sunday night, witnessed the first...and possibly only...mascot wedding ! Oh, yes, there was a baseball game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Maine Black Bears, too.
Officiated by "The Right-On Reverend Rabbi Rokeach", the ceremony took place with batgirls holding up bats for an archway...as well as carrying in the groom in a style fit for a Pharaoh...including fanning palm fronds...the evening saw the happy couple cut a wedding cake, take their first dance, and leave the affair in a vintage 1920's automobile...to the delight of the Hurricanes faithful ! Several fans even attended wearing tuxedos for the occasion.
The wedding party included Sebastian the Ibis as the best man, Freda the Flamingo from Hialeah Racetrack as the maid of honor...along with Bud Man, Grimace and other McDonald's characters,Grandpa Maniac, The WIOD Sports Hound and Bananas, the Maine Black Bear. The couple spent their Honeymoon at MetroZoo.
The following year, the Maniac's added some little Maniac's to the family...and Mrs. Maniac retired from the limelight...to raise the next generation of Maniac's to cheer on the Hurricanes
