Marine biologist, and UM Sports Hall of Fame president Gerard Loisel will conduct a "Kids Presentation on Dangerous Marine Animals", geared to children between the ages of 8 and 15, at Founder's Park (Mile Marker 87) at 3 PM, just prior to the weigh-in on Saturday, June 25th for the 6th Annual Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys / UM Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Fishing Tournament, hosted by Melvin Bratton and Alonzo Highsmith. Parents are welcome to attend.
The program will help kids separate fact from fiction regarding many so called "dangerous animals" and will not only focus on sharks, stingrays, barracudas, etc., but will also include information on fish that can sometimes be dangerous when consumed. Preserved specimens will be used in the program.
Loisel, who for the past 26 years has been teaching undergraduate courses in marine biology and oceanography, also runs marine biology camps for kids.
