UMSHoF member Mike Fiore set a school record with 9 consecutive hits...a streak dating back to
May 12th ! Fiore started the streak in the 2nd game of a doubleheader on May 12 against the University of Central Florida, and ended it against South Florida on May 17.
In the UCF game, Mike set a school record with 6 hits in a game, going 6 for 6 with 4 runs scored and sevens runs batted in in the Canes 28-5 romp over the Knights. He then started the May 17th game against the Bulls with 3 hits...running the streak to 9 consecutive hits ! The 1985 National Champions won the game 9-0.

The consecutive hit streak record would be tied on May 17th , 1996 by Rudy Gomez...who accomplished the feat in 4 games from May 11 to May 17, two against Jacksonville and two against Cal State Fullerton...and also set a school record by reaching base 15 consecutive times during his hit streak !
