Reserve guard Joel Warren sank a free throw, his only point of the evening, with two seconds remaining and clinches Miami's first victory over a Top 20 team since the rebirth of the program in 1985, as the Canes upset the defending National Champions, the 16th ranked Kansas Jayhawks, 87-86 in front of 3,891 fans in the Miami Arena !
The Canes were led by UMSHoF member Eric Brown's 23 points and 10 rebounds ! Dennis Burns also added 25 points. Kevin Presto had 11 points and 8 assists.
Prior to this game, the last win over a Top 20 team in the programs history came on February 2, 1965, a 100-85 win over #20 Miami of Ohio !
