The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame has announced, after careful consideration and with an abundance of caution, that its 2020 Celebrity Fishing Tournament has been cancelled.
The event was originally scheduled for this weekend May 15-16. It was postponed to July due to the closure of all non-essential businesses which included Monty’s Raw Bar. Because of continued restrictions due to the pandemic, the UM Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Fishing Tournament now plans to make its return in May of 2021.
This event has been held every year since 2011 in the Florida Keys until Hurricane Irma and its aftermath postponed the 2018 event. It moved to Miami-Dade County for the 2019 version and was looking to be staged at Monty's in Coconut Grove this year. The UMSHoF looks forward to working with presenting sponsors Apex Marine & Pursuit Boats as well as Monty's Raw Bar for the 2021 tournament.
For more information on next year's event and how to be a sponsor, call UMSHoF Executive Director John Routh at the Hall of Fame at 305-284-2775 or go to CanesFish.com .
