John Hammill's biography from the 2000 UMSHoF Induction banquet program...
Prominent player and coach at the University of Miami...during his playing days (1961-64) he helped Miami to the longest winning streak in men's intercollegiate tennis history with 137 straight victories...led Miami to successive fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Championships in 1962 and 1963....in 1963 he earned All-American honors in both singles and doubles....as the Hurricanes head coach from 1979-1995 he compiled a 269-128 record and qualified for the NCAA tournament 13 times...coached UM's first four-time All-American Johan Donar, two-time All-American Christo Steyn, and 1987 NCAA singles Champion and All-American Andrew Burrow.
