A record-setting sprinter and one of the most decorated athletes in program history, Shakima Wimbley left her mark all over the Miami and ACC record books.
Throughout her four-year career, Wimbley helped the Hurricanes win two ACC Indoor Championship while establishing herself as one of the most dominant sprinters in ACC history. Wimbley closed her ACC career with eight 200m titles, seven 400m titles, three 4x100m titles and five 4x400m titles. She also owns six school records, four ACC records and six ACC Championship records.
At the 2017 ACC Outdoor Championships, she delivered one of the most complete performances in meet history, winning the 200m, 400m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. Following her win in the 200m, she became the first woman in ACC history to win four titles in a single event. For her efforts at the championships, she earned ACC Women’s Track MVP honors for the second straight year. An eight-time All-American, Wimbley captured the 2017 NCAA championship in the indoor 400m with a time of 51.07 seconds, which ranked as the fastest time in the world that year.
Following her collegiate career, Wimbley is a two-time USA Track and Field Champion in 2018 and 2019 and won silver in the 4x400m relay at the 2019 IAAF World Relays.
