Krista Simkins is a highly accomplished track and field athlete, recognized for her achievements in sprinting and relay events. A two-time Pennsylvania State Champion and record holder, she made a significant mark as a high school senior with the fastest times in the state for the 100 meters (11.66), 200 (23.62), and 400 (53.23), earning All-American honors and a commitment to the University of Miami.
At Miami, Simkins rose to prominence as a freshman, earning three-time All-American honors in the 4x400m indoor relay, 4x100m, and 4x400m outdoor events. She played a key role in the 4x400 meter team that set a school record of 3:27.85 at the prestigious Penn Relays, a mark that stands to this day.
As a sophomore in 2007, Krista won the 200 meters (23.08) and finished second in the 100 at the ACC Outdoor Championships. She also ran a pivotal leg on multiple relays, including the 4x400 which finished first at the Clemson and Florida Intercollegiate meets, and the 4x100m that took second at the ACC Championships.
In 2008, Simkins ran a season-best 23.14 in the 200 meters, the best time in the NCAA at that point. She also reached NCAA Regional Qualifying times on three occasions in the 200 and captured a career-best 52.90 in the 400, winning the ACC Championship in the event. Krista also became a national champion in the indoor 400 (52.16) and ran a career-high 51.95 in the preliminary heat at the NCAA Championships.
Simkins earned her the distinction of ACC Indoor Track Performer of the Year in 2008, in addition to multiple ACC Championship titles in the 200 and 400 meters. She was also a key member of the 4x400 meter relay, which earned a season-best time of 3:36.57 at the NCAA Championships.

Krista currently works as the Director of Talent Acquisition for Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia.
