One of the top divers in the nation during his time with the Miami Hurricanes, Brian Ramos’ brilliant career at The U saw him emerge as a force to be reckoned with on both springboards and the platform. Recruited by UMSHoF inductee and legendary head diving coach Randy Ableman, Ramos went on to accomplish a stellar record at UM.
Brian arrived at Miami as the number one springboard and platform recruit in the nation, having delivered one of the finest prep diving careers in South Florida history at St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, FL. There, Ramos was named “Swimmer of the Year” by the South Florida Sun Sentinel in his final year of competition despite competing in diving. His well-deserved recognition came following an eye-popping senior season where he won every one of his meets in commanding fashion. Ramos was also a multiple gold medal-winning performer on the U.S. Junior Olympic Diving circuit and won three straight Florida 3A diving titles.
After a dominant prep career that saw him compete across the globe, Brian would continue his excellence as a seven-time NCAA All-American as a Hurricane at the collegiate level. One of his top finishes at Miami was a silver medalist and the second-place performance at the 1992 NCAA Championships on the 1-meter springboard.
Ramos followed that impressive NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships performance with three All-America finishes at the 1993 edition of the event in Indianapolis. There he finished eighth on the platform, ninth on the 1-meter springboard and fourth on the 3-meter springboard, to cap another dominant outing for Miami.
The 1995 BIG EAST Diver of the Year, Ramos was a key member of a Hurricanes squad that became the first in NCAA history to have five divers earn All-America honors in the same year.
Brian graduated from Miami in 1995 with his degree in communications, majoring in public relations and political science. He is currently the Managing Director at FTI Consulting.
